Nossa Senhora dos Anjos Chapel
Nossa Senhora dos Anjos Chapel in Nazare
According to the legend the construction of Nossa Senhora dos Anjos Chapel is due to the fact that Frei Rodrigo and Frei Romano arrived there bringing the image of Nossa Senhora da Nazare who later would go to Sítio da Nazaré.
The Baroque altarpiece and the boards representing S. Gabriel and Nossa Senhora da Anunciação stand out in Nossa Senhora dos Anjos Chapel.
Its use is limited to the time of the procession of Senhor dos Passos, which takes place three weeks after the celebration of Carnival.
Since 1978, the Chapel has been classified as a Property of Public Interest, a seal of its historical, social and artistic importance and the guarantee that you should not miss visiting.
Another attraction that you will certainly not want to miss and whose religious theme can be found in several other examples of heritage spread throughout the municipality, including the Nossa Senhora da Nazaré Sanctuary, the Memória Chapel or the São Gião Church.
